Fetish (noun)
a strong and unusual need or desire for something
a need or desire for an object, body part, or activity for sexual excitement
an object that is believed to have magical powers
East Asians, Indians, Geechies, Africans, Latinos, West Africans, West Indians, Indo–Caribbeans, and Creoles have all been fetishized as fantasy fodder for the elite “establishment.” The sashay of colors, swivel of hips, penetrating gaze, limber and tropical bodies have all been relished and embraced in every aspect of physicality as exotic objects in a western gaze, but disregarded as an authentic and distinct culture in western civilization. Culture and Capitalism have been reluctant twins in the mercenary machinations of elitist establishments especially in the United States. Industries of Beauty, Cosmetics, Fashion, Commerce have all benefited from the organic and creative forces of peoples of color. If the “establishment” profits off this why then can’t peoples of color strive for solidarity and to create a continuous collaboration that embraces the varied beauty of our expressive forms? Peoples of color have no limits in their boundaries. We are a magical people and we create without hesitation!
