You may have disarmed me.

You may have decimated me.

Torn down these hallowed walls penance built,

Boldly crossed through deceptively still waters,

Maneuvered around these clever mind traps.

Even the labyrinthine turns in my heart couldn’t deter you!

But I knew all along.

I knew you were coming…

I could smell the ozone of your heavenly descent

from a million miles above.

I tried to steady myself in vain,

but I was lured by that nectarine pussy:

More alluring than the ulterior promises of penance…

More delectable than immortality…

More venomous than the evil eye…

Now that I have awaken – my beloved,

Did you find what you were looking for?

Did you find a man whose body was fucked up by lust?

Or did you find a man whose soul was mended by love?

Either way, people will twist the facts,

and reduce our true love to a pitiful allegory.

Soon they will call you Eve

and me Adam…

This is Viswamitra's response to #JeSuisMenaka that also uses modern, brash language to situate the story in an age of social media, instant gratification, millenial speak, and hashtags. As you may recall, the revered sage Viswamitra is lured away from his penance by the celestial courtesan Menaka.

The skeleton of this story can be found in Kalidasa's Abijnanashakuntalam, Vyasa's Mahabharatha, and other notable ancient Sanskrit texts. However, I deliberately re-situated the story and language in an age of social media, instant gratification, millenial speak, and hashtags.
