What are you afraid of my love?

That this alluring voice will cost you your penance?

What are you afraid of my love? That this fine ass will drive you to distraction?

What are you afraid of my love?

That this pussy will be sweeter than heavenly ambrosia?

What are you afraid of my love?

That my devotion will destroy you?

What are you afraid of my love?

That I will finally fuck my way through your force field?

Now that I have your attention, my love…

Are you afraid of loving me?

Because I already know you love me…

Are you afraid that you’ll be unable to love?

Because love is the greatest weapon…

Are you afraid of a life without love?

Because no good comes from power without love…

Are you afraid of what comes next?

Because I know you’re thinking about it…

Are you afraid of me? Because I’m afraid you’re the love of my life…

This is one of the first poems I have written in more than 10 years. Consider it as a brasher, more modern update of the classic story in which the revered sage Viswamitra is lured away from his penance by the celestial courtesan Menaka. The skeleton of this story can be found in Kalidasa's Abijnanashakuntalam, Vyasa's Mahabharatha, and other notable ancient Sanskrit texts. However, I deliberately re-situated the story and language in an age of social media, instant gratification, millenial speak, and hashtags.
